The Revelation of Jesus Christ is about His work after He was raised from the dead and returned to heaven of which the sanctuary built on earth had prefigured….
Hebrews and Revelation and Daniel are books that should be closely tied together for study.
Hebrews 8:1 Now of the things which we have spoken [this is] the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens; 8:2 A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man.
Hebrews 9:12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption [for us]. Now the KJV tells us that Christ has entered into the Holy place whereas modern versions wrongly states that Christ is entered into the Most Holy which fits well the teaching that everything has been done at the cross.
At the ascension of Christ He entered into the throne room of God as areas represented by the sanctuary on earth but vastly more magnificent with angels that surround the throne room of God as thus described in the book of Daniel in which the judgement of the little horn takes place as well as all those who take the name of Christ.
Daniel 7:9 I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment [was] white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne [was like] the fiery flame, [and] his wheels [as] burning fire.
7:10 A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened.
7:11 I beheld then because of the voice of the great words which the horn spake: I beheld [even] till the beast was slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame.
Now this is the place of judgement but the Father has handed all judgement to the Son for He is the Son of man and becoming acquainted with our place, our human experience the Father has given all things into His hand. John 5:26 For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;
5:27 And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.

Here are a few old photos from the 80s of the earthly tabernacle a model of that which the Israelites carried throughout the wilderness. The sketch of the sanctuary is from Mel Skinner who sketched pictures for Pastor George Burnside’s outreach campaigns. The model of the sanctuary is Bill Winterton’s whose replica of the sanctuary was displayed at the Opera House Sydney in the 1980s. Notice here in the sketch by Mel of the sanctuary that there is a time line which indicates the time of judgement before the Lord’s return. Since we know not the day or the hour the issue is be ready to meet your God as He shall return as a thief in the night. The times of the second coming and of the close of probation are not given to us but of judgment, of the restoration of truth and of being ready is given for us to prepare. The Sanctuary teaches redemption both personally and as a corporate body of believers how God would take care of sin.
Within are furnishings: “Then verily the first covenant had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary. For there was a tabernacle made; the first, wherein was the candlestick, and the table, and the show-bread; which is called the sanctuary. And after the second veil, the tabernacle which is called the holiest of all, which had the golden censer, and the ark of the covenant overlaid round about with gold, wherein was the golden pot that had manna, and Aaron’s rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant; and over it the cherubim of glory shadowing the mercy-seat.” [Hebrews 9:1-5.]
How is the day of judgment determined? Does God judge without knowing about it? Without us knowing how to be ready for it? Of course not only if we be willingly ignorant.
Its very simple. We see described the judgment with the throne room of God in heaven in the book of Daniel and time period is given by which to understand when the judgment should be.
The judgment: Daniel 8:13 Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that certain [saint] which spake, How long [shall be] the vision [concerning] the daily, and the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot?
8:14 And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.
The transgression of desolation describes Bible truth trodden into the ground by the blood of martyrs by Papal Rome ( which acknowledge to a small degree and apologize for some of their many mistakes) by any who may dared to proclaim Bible truth. The time of this persecution was given an exact date as authorized or legalized by emperors. The 1260 years of Papal persecution and so also was the 2,3oo years of prophecy which began in 457 BC were all authorized by an earthly ruler. The 2300 years began by the authority of Artaxerxes to restore the temple of God . The 2300 years began with this former decree and ended in 1844 by which God Himself declared the event by the restoration of all truth and a world wide movement that would keep and proclaim the Second Coming, the raising of the dead at His coming, the memorial of the Sabbath that would be kept into eternity by God’s people and the truth concerning the sanctuary in heaven. The year was marks by a beginnings of a restoration movement.
The three angel message starts with a call to worship and in the stream of time its voice was heard following the years of 1844. This is at the very heart of the book of Revelation. Its a wake up call and the final one before the day of Christ’s return. Not only does it mean that one should come one day to worship Him that made heaven and earth but follow the lamb wherever He goeth and that day of worship is also a certain day of the week: Revelation 14:7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters see exodus 20:8-11 and not only a certain day of the week but not to do one’s own pleasure and work on that day Isaiah 58:14 and not only that but that we should present our own temples as clean in body mind and Spirit and soul: 1 Thessalonians 5:23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and [I pray God] your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. so that we should have the mind of Christ Philippians 2:5 and understanding what that mind is in joy and peace and the fruits of such. The end of the commandment is charity 1 Timothy 1:5 out of a pure heart and when that is seen, the hearts of the children are toward their parents and toward others as seen in keeping every other commandment. Can you see the importance then of the call in Revelation 14:6 The testing truth for Christ’s time apply to us: drink this blood and eat this flesh of mine until you have the heart and mind and soul of Christ. Then many of those that had followed Jesus turned away saying this is a hard saying who can hear it. In standing up for perceived huts or one’s rights we have backbiters as spoken of in Romans 1:30 injecting thoughts and feeling by slandering accusations in self defense. Philippians 2:2 Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, [being] of one accord, of one mind. 2:3 [Let] nothing [be done] through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. 2:4 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. Its not just about me only then or just my family, Christ said here are my Mother and my brother speaking of His disciples- its so much more expansive in thought.
Israel was a special people called of God to be a commandment keeping people but having known something of truth because they had the very oricals of God yet more often never ever experienced the love of God became victims of a contagion of sin and lost their life when Christ was literally at the door. The same could be said for the Israel the nation. Young children, wonderful and unique individuals born to read and know of God whose mothers arms carried them to Sabbath school died without hope in the world, not all but some as prostitutes and the tragedy of suicide and a lot of things that should have never happened and where be the guardians of such. A false gospel and the rebellion of the 1960s laid the foundation for this to happen- I speak now of that which has transpired to the present. A false foundation continues with Adventism today by which the power of God is denied coming down from the pulpit the very same one that became part of Protestantism. SDAism is a very unique teaching in which the individual is to experience something altogether new and different from the man found in Romans 7, in which one is to look to attain the perfect mind of Christ and full worship and consecration of body, mind and Spirit. Having been brought to the water to make a decision (I speak of all those little Jewish boys and girls figuratively speaking), the criminal which all of us are, can make a decision for a new life. There can be an acknowledgement like the baptism of John which is well and good but unless there is a new experience in the baptism of Jesus that person shall be lost. Nominal Sunday or Sabbath worship will not find the true experience in Jesus. An altogether different way of thinking is like a person who has never hand-glided before is set to make flight and steps forward to fly something different than what most will experience, so the Christian walk is a mind set altogether different.
While some indeed preach of Christ, they teach others about envy and strife by their own lives and the end is a false perception of what Christianity means. They have not entered into the first angel’s message. How often there be tattlers also and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not from which comes disloyalty, strife and disunity.
The religion of Christ is not what many think it is, nor what their lives represent it to be. The love of God in the soul will have a direct influence upon the life, and will call the intellect and the affections into active, healthful exercise. The child of God will not rest satisfied until he is clothed with the righteousness of Christ, and sustained by his life-giving power. When he sees a weakness in his character, it is not enough to confess it again and again; he must go to work with determination and energy to overcome his defects by building up opposite traits of character. He will not shun this work because it is difficult. Untiring energy is required of the Christian; but he is not obliged to work in his own strength; divine power awaits his demand. Every one who is sincerely striving for the victory over self, will appropriate the promise, “My grace is sufficient for thee.” [2 Corinthians 12:9.] {GW92 420.3} In rejecting the true gospel not of just a day, of a Sabbath but full on worship and training of the mind, body and soul, saying we cannot be perfect as Christ is or have the same mind, they deny the power of God and the Bible says from such teachings turn away.
It would seem that the exercise through sweat and hard toil on dry rocky ground is much easier for some that to exercise the mind to be one with Christ. Many because of a false gospel do not realize what they should even be or do.
As we consider the work of Christ, he made a life threatening decision “In this awful crisis, when everything was at stake, when the mysterious cup trembled in the hand of the sufferer, the heavens opened, a light shone forth amid the stormy darkness of the crisis hour, and the mighty angel who stands in God’s presence, occupying the position from which Satan fell, came to the side of Christ. The angel came not to take the cup from Christ’s hand, but to strengthen Him to drink it, with the assurance of the Father’s love. He came to give power to the divine-human suppliant. He pointed Him to the open heavens, telling Him of the souls that would be saved as the result of His sufferings.” It seemed impossible that one being like ourselves sinned not under great provocation and so we make up a Christ altogether different from ourselves.
Now the ministry of the Christ in the temple above as pictured in Revelation and Hebrews is carried forward by the work of Christ, angels and His church for humanity in perfecting His mind. Now I said perfect and Paul said in Hebrews 6:1 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, Have you noticed how often we go over the same old issues in lesson studies without progressing and the relevant events of the world relating to prophecy and the time of judgement are left unsaid. Shouldn’t the church be more relevant than the world in bringing us up-to-date on world events. There are many false teachers amongst the people as has always been since the beginning with the virus of sin passed on ready to infect within. Shame on you ministers of Satan who preach a false gospel and for not preparing people for the present situation.
When Christ ascended up into heaven the work on earth was not finished at the cross for Israel had refused to anoint the Messiah and to make an end of sin. Therefore the church was raised. False translations of the Bible, those differing from the Bible of the reformation said in Hebrew 9 that Christ ascended up into the most Holy place and this is a gross error. The KJV tells us that Christ ascended up into the Holy place in His mediation after His death and ascension up into heaven. Modern translations of the Bible are taken off the Siniaticus filled with literally over a thousand corrections and the vaticanus which though claiming to be a 4th century manuscript appears to have been overwritten by 15th century scribe. In revelation chapter 1 Christ is seen walking amongst the seven candlesticks, telling us that His work is in the first apartment before gong to the second apartment.
When the creator is pictured in the Sanctuary in heaven on the Lord’s day there is great significance. Revelation 1:10 We are told that John fell down as a dead man for the the power and majesty of Christ. The power of the creator is here revealed in power to do, on the memorial day and as spoken of in Hebrew to enter into His rest. WE are to follow Jesus in His movements in the sanctu
ary above and if we shall be obedient our sins shall be forgiven and our hearts made pure. A restore mind by cooperation with the agencies of heaven prepares the candidate for a new body and entrance into the gates of heaven.
Revelation 1:20 The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches. Christ’s movements amonsgt the church involves the angel’s of God. Everything of perfection is a building into 7, the day of worship.
The temple of heaven with angel surrounding the throne is thus pictured Daniel 7:10 A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened. The sanctuary on earth made after the pattern in heaven had angels woven into the curtains and standing either side of the mercy seat in the Most Holy place.
Revelation 2:1 Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks;
2:2 I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars:
2:3 And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name’s sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted.
2:4 Nevertheless I have [somewhat] against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.
He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches, revelation 1:3 Blessed [is] he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time [is] at hand.
- Repent and do the first works
- Be faithful unto death and I will give you a crown of life
- That which you have already hold fast till I come
- Be watchful and strengthen the few things that remain
- Hold fast which thou hast, that no man take your crown
Revelation 1:5 Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,
1:6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him [be] glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
If then priest and kings in training how seriously are we taking the above points and applying it to ourselves now? For Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they [also] which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. In revelation 1: Christ declare himself as the alpha and omega and in this the beginning of the new birth until one is perfectly fit for the kingdom by their faith meaning reliance on Him.
1 Corinthians 13:4 Charity suffereth long, [and] is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
13:5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
13:6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
13:7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
13:8 Charity never faileth: but whether [there be] prophecies, they shall fail; whether [there be] tongues, they shall cease; whether [there be] knowledge, it shall vanish away.
AS you read each message to the churches there are messages for character development for those in the church of Christ. What of the first love- the mind is stayed on the one of His or her affections and always thinking of ways to please their love.
Of particular interest to us is the last church, the church of our time Revelation 3:14 And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;
3:15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
3:16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
3:17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
3:18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and [that] the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.
3:19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
3:21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.
3:22 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
The church of God is aptly spoken of here as asleep, not in readiness. What if half the soldiers in an army were idling or asleep when ordered to be on duty; the result would be defeat, captivity, or death. Should any escape from the hands of the enemy, would they be thought worthy of a reward? No… Members of the church must awake, and do their part, and God will work mightily in behalf of his commandment-keeping people. Will every family in our several churches think seriously, prayerfully, before the old year closes? Have you old grudges? have you difficulties, envyings, jealousies, heart-burnings? Let Jesus come in and cleanse the soul-temple. Let parents and children make the most of the present opportunity, and set their hearts in order. Where difficulties exist among brethren, let them carry out the injunction of the apostle: “Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed.” {RH, December 24, 1889 par. 13}
