A long-running native title fight supposedly affecting more than 3500 properties on Brisbane’s bayside has reached the federal court, with a southeast Queensland council fighting a feared takeover of its sporting grounds, cemeteries and outdoor recreational areas.
The Quandamooka people, the traditional owners of the Redland Coast, have been locked in an eight-year legal battle against the state government over a native title claim covering about 530 square kilometres that includes parts of Brisbane City and most of the bayside city of Redlands.
