Vatican Museum Part 2

The Vatican museums – paintings dedicated to the martyrs, the queen of heaven,

the triple tiara, gold & silver worship items.

Constantine can be credited with the some the major church sites in Rome as he transformed Christianity into the state religion. Construction of St Peters began by orders of the Roman Emperor Constantine I between 318 and 322, and took about 30 years to complete. Over the next twelve centuries, the church gradually gained importance, eventually becoming a major place of pilgrimage in Rome. On the busiest days more than 25,000 visitors a day pass through the sistine chapel.

In the Catholic tradition, at the moment of consecration of the eucharist which the Priest holds above his head, is believed to have been transformed that is literally transubstantiated or changed  into the body and blood of Christ. Catholic doctrine holds that the elements are not only spiritually transformed, but are substantially transformed into the body and blood of Christ. Although the elements retain the appearance, or “accidents,” of bread and wine, they become the body and blood of Christ.

In the center of the sunburst, the monstrance normally has a small round glass the size of a Host, through which the Blessed Sacrament can be seen.

When Jesus said eat this flesh & drink this blood He was illustrating the relationship that He desired to have with His disciples as He was one with the Father not something of a crude pagan mystical origin. He was talking about character transformation and feeding on that which makes the mind Holy and fit for heaven.
